01.07.2017 – Race start day minus 1 – Pavia, Italy.
We had a relaxed quiet day in Pavia, exploring the sites.
Both vans are parked inside a cavernous garage, so we practically have our own workshop.
After checking oil and various other bits, our time was our own.
We walked through the cobbled streets and Saturday market stalls on our way to the river and over the new Ponte Coperto, The remnants of the old one that was bombed in 1944 are still visible next to the new one.
We ended once again on a very pleasant terrace for a light lunch and various cold large drinks and were met by John’s brother, Clive, who arrived by train from Milan and who will be joining us to drive John’s van down to Taranto: We will be following the bikes closely with both vans.
Jack has arrived at Milan, Linate airport this afternoon and Les has arrived by car in Milan. We will meet up with both of them tomorrow.
We will leave shortly before dinner and will be planning for registration, scrutineering and the start tomorrow night.
