02.07.2017 – Race start day – Pavia to Milan
A delicious dinner on the terrace of our local pizzeria yesterday evening, again accompanied by vino rosso.
Les and Jack both called to say that they have arrived at their hotel in Milan, and we will be meeting up this afternoon at 5pm for registration and scrutineering, and again at 11pm for the drivers’ briefing, one hour before the start at midnight.
Start point is Milan’s Idroscalo, Punta dell”Est, where the big lake used to be an old seaplane base.
The midnight run will follow the route of the Vernasca Silver Flag, an event for classic cars, before continuing through the Apennines with a checkpoint half way through before the with first stage ends in Ciriano. The second stage will bring us via Lucca to Pisa with an arrival at the end of the morning.
